The holy herb for spiritual awakening
The Holy Herb for Spiritual Awakening
Spiritual seekers throughout India have revered Tulsi (Holy Basil) for thousands of years. Believed to be the embodiment of Lakshmi the Hindu Goddess of love and abundance, Tulsi is worshiped and used in both medicinal and spiritual practices. Interestingly enough, the Shamanic traditions of the upper Amazon in Peru also work with this fragrant little beauty to powerful effect.
Here at The Garden Of Peace we call her by another name “Albacha” a slightly different strain of the same plant that is used in India but no less potent. Albacha is one of the medicinal plants we use to treat patients in conjunction with Ayahuasca and a traditional shamanic dieta process.
A natural anti-inflammatory, antiseptic and adaptogen, Albacha is administered as a raw, fresh extract. From the Shamanic perspective this plant is used to purify the body, mind and spirit, to support mental clarity, balance the energetic body and allow the spiritual channels to open and flow so one may receive, understand and integrate spiritual information more easily.
Also this is a wonderful plant for those suffering from migraines, nervous tension and general nervous or adrenal fatigue.
Albacha is also used in topical applications as part of a medicinal plant bath. The plant is especially helpful for spiritual protection in this way and this plant bath is a safe practice for those who are wanting to work with the Albacha without the guidance of an experienced Shaman. We can also recommend making a tea by steeping around 10 – 15 leaves in a litre of hot water and drinking a cup each day in the morning before breakfast.
A shamanic diet with Albacha can be a wonderful experience for those working with meditation and yoga practices, to open up the dreams and visions, to concentrate artistic practices or simply ease the burden of stress related illness.
This sweet little plant as a spirit that is both playful and powerful, opening up worlds of clarity and insight that can support us all greatly in our quest for awakening and harmony. Bless.
